Billed as the “Route of all Evil Tour,” co-headliners AEROSMITH
& MÖTLEY
CRÜE made the first stop of the 34 city tour at Germain Amphitheater,
Columbus, Ohio, and proved early out why this tour is the ultimate "Big
Wow" must-see rock event of 2006.
This tour marks the first time that both mega-bands have embarked on a tour
together with all of the original members with the exception of Aerosmith’s
bassist Tom Hamilton who is being treated for throat cancer, but will join the
tour within a few weeks. Filling in for Hamilton is David Hull, a longtime friend
of the band who played in the Joe Perry Project.
The stage itself allowed an up close and personal experience giving the bad
boys of rock plenty of room to do what they do best- using a 70 foot long ramp
as their playground. The 58 year old Steven Tyler, the big mouth(piece) of Aerosmith,
proved that he can still scat with the best of ‘em throughout the 75
minute set. Draped in his signature scarves, Tyler blows a mean harp, and proves
why he’s the rock & roll icon that he is. Perry’s rendition
of Fleetwood Mac's Stop Messin' Around made the audience remember too, that
Perry’s talent shouldn’t be shadowed by Tyler. Perry dedicated Stop
Messin' Around to bassist Tom Hamilton, who is recovering from throat cancer
treatment. The pros that they are, Aerosmith gave an outstanding performance offering their
hits from the 70’s… Sweet Emotion; Draw the Line; Mama Kin; Walk
This Way; Dream On, Rag Doll; Cryin'; F.I.N.E..
