On International Women’s Day, the Indigo Girls brought their timeless music and tireless spirit to a nearly sold-out Egyptian Room, the Murat Theatre, Indianapolis. Appropriately, the feminine was celebrated on Women’s Day by two of the most talented female musicians and wordsmiths in the music business. The Indigo Girls consist of Amy Ray and Emily Saliers whose career has spanned over two decades spawning 16 studio albums.

Touring in support of their latest release, 2011’s “Beauty Queen Sister,” the duo performed classics: “Least Complicated”, “Watershed”, “Power of Two” and “Galileo” with newer material interspersed throughout. Words can’t quite capture the experience of an Indigo show because a live performance represents art in its finest form; painting scenes in our imaginations with closely intertwined melodies and harmonies, complex arrangements and chord progressions that transport an audience through time and space.

Atlanta trio the Shadowboxers served as warm-up and backing band; supporting the entire set as the Girls traded-out instruments for every song: 12 strings, electrics, mandolins and banjos created a diverse and rich musical palate throughout the 120 minute set.

The set closed out with “Closer to Fine” which snagged them a Grammy award in 1989 for Best Contemporary Folk Recording, as well as a nomination for Best New Artist. Their encore consisted of 2011’s “Share the Moon” and Bob Dylan’s “Tangled Up in Blue” which without doubt, left an indelible mark on the entire audience.

Once in a while an authentic and organic collaboration between artists and brands comes along…

After introducing his first two music apps last year, Grammy-winning, iconic guitarist and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee SLASH got a call from Rovio, the creator of the popular mobile game Angry Birds. A longtime fan of the game since it debuted, SLASH and Angry Birds Space have partnered to create the “SlashBird” character, a theme song performed by SLASH and a ringtone. Click here to experience Slashbird, the exclusive ringtone and t-shirt (see photo below): spaced.angrybirds.com. Watch the Slashbird trailer here: http://youtu.be/EH1T-_gwt78.

“We’re huge Slash fans, and Slash is a huge Angry Birds fan, so this was just an ideal match,” explains Philip Hickey Vice President, Marketing at Rovio. “It all happened very organically and was just a lot of fun on both sides. Our fans will love the track! Slash rocked the Angry Birds Space theme like only he could!”

SLASH Featuring Myles Kennedy and The Conspirators are currently embarked on their world tour in support of their acclaimed studio album APOCALYPTIC LOVE. It spawned SLASH two first-ever #1 rock radio hits with “You’re A Lie” and “Standing In The Sun.” Meanwhile, the album’s third single “Anastasia” is on track to break the Top 25 at Active Rock next week. The album was produced by Eric Valentine, who did the same honors for his first solo disc Slash, and all the songs on APOCALYPTIC LOVE were written together by Slash and Myles Kennedy.

SLASH and his bandmates Myles Kennedy and The Conspirators—Myles Kennedy (vocals), Brent Fitz (drums), Todd Kerns (bass) and Frank Sidoris (guitar)—will head to Seoul, South Korea on May 9 to perform at MetalFest. On May 11, the group will perform live at the first-ever Ozzfest Japan with Black Sabbath and more.

New York—- Bad Company and Lynyrd Skynyrd have announced a co-headline tour that takes the bands coast-to-coast for 12 dates. Both bands celebrate significant 40th anniversaries in 2013, with Lynyrd Skynyrd having released their debut album on August 13, 1973 and Bad Company being formed that same year. While the pair have shared the stage and Paul Rodgers has toured with Lynyrd Skynyrd, Bad Company and Skynyrd have never toured as co-headliners together.

Bad Company were dubbed a super-group upon the band’s formation due to the union of Free’s Paul Rodgers (Vocals / Multi-Instrumentalist) with Mott The Hoople’s Mick Ralphs (Guitar) plus King Crimson’s Boz Burrell (Bass) and Free’s Simon Kirke (Drums). Over the next nine years, the band released a string of six albums, yielding international hits “Can’t Get Enough,” “Bad Company,” “Feel Like Makin’ Love,” and many others penned by the main songwriters Paul Rodgers and Mick Ralphs. Original members Rodgers, Ralphs, and Kirke will be joined by guitarist Howard Leese and bassist Todd Ronning (from Paul Rodgers solo band). Original bassist Boz Burrell passed away in 2006.

Bad Company has inspired many of today’s musicians. Most notably, Metal band Five Finger Death Punch who scored a #1 Active Rock hit with a cover of the song “Bad Company”. Since 2001, the band has only played 11 isolated performances, and has not staged a tour of The United States until now. In front of the run, Rodgers shares, “When Mick and I formed the band in the 70’s we were amazed at the instant success. It didn’t hurt to have Led Zeppelin behind us, and we wrote some decent songs that still resonate. This one is for fans.”

Led by core members Gary Rossington (guitar), Johnny Van Zant (vocals) and Rickey Medlocke (guitar), along with longtime drummer Michael Cartellone, Lynyrd Skynyrd has maintained a tremendous legacy that began over 40 years ago in Jacksonville, Florida, and continues with the recently released Last Of A Dying Breed (Roadrunner). The band’s career was halted for a decade after the 1977 plane crash that killed three band members, including Ronnie Van Zant and Steve Gaines, and then subsequently faced adversity through the losses of Billy Powell, Ean Evans, Allen Collins, Leon Wilkeson and Huey Thomasson, yet they rock on. With a catalog of over 60 albums, sales beyond 30 million worldwide and their beloved classic American rock anthem “Sweet Home Alabama” having over two million downloaded ringtones, Rock & Roll Hall of Famers Lynyrd Skynyrd remains a cultural icon that appeals to all generations. The current line-up features Gary Rossington (Guitar), Johnny Van Zant (Vocals), Rickey Medlocke (Guitar), Mark “Sparky” atejka (Guitar), Michael Cartellone (Drums), Johnny Colt (Bass), Peter Keys (Keyboards), Dale Krantz Rossington- Honkettes (Backing Vocals) and Carol Chase-Honkettes (Backing Vocals).

Paul Rodgers reveals, “The Skynyrds and I go back to the 70’s and the days and nights at the Hyatt House on Sunset in LA aka the Riot House. In the 90’s the band introduced me to my wife Cynthia, and that’s why I am so damned happy and healthy these years.” Lynyrd Skynyrd’s Johnny Van Zant offers, “Every member of Skynyrd has been fans of Bad Company from the get go. Personally, Paul is one of my favorite rock singers. We have a deep appreciation for Bad Company’s music and look forward to being on the road with them and sharing the stage.”

Special guests and Kentucky-bred hard rockers, Black Stone Cherry, will be kicking things off on The 40 Tour. Their music has been described as Southern-fried hard rock about everything from being proud of where you come from and true to who you are.

The co-headline tour will stage performances at the following venues:

Thu Jun 20 Auburn, WA White River Amphitheater

Los Angeles, CA - February 25, 2013 - Metallica, in conjunction with their friends C3 Presents, are pleased to announce the lineup for the 2013 Orion Music + More Festival, to be held at Belle Isle in Detroit, MI on June 8 and 9. Headliners will include Metallica, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Rise Against, Deftones and Bassnectar, while the festival will also feature amazing acts including Gogol Bordello, Foals, Tomahawk, The Joy Formidable, Death Grips and local Detroit bands The Dirtbombs, DEATH and BATTLECROSS.

“Last year’s Orion Music + More Festival was hands down the highlight of the Metallica calendar. A great time was had by all, especially the band members,” said Lars Ulrich. “The fact that it also resonated with enough of our fans and friends that it warrants another go-around in ‘13 is beyond exciting. I can think of no better place than the Motor City, with its rich and diverse history of music, for the second ride on our Orion festival train. Bring it the fuck on!”

Orion Music + More will feature more than 30 bands across 5 live music stages plus a lifestyle element that reflects each of Metallica’s band members many personal interests. Detroit will see the return of James Hetfield’s Custom Car & Motorcycle Show, Kirk Hammett’s Crypt, Lars Ulrich’s Hit the Lights Film Tent and Robert Trujillo’s Vans Vert Ramp alongside the Metallica Museum and many other fan favorite attractions.

The inaugural Orion Music + More was held in 2012 in Atlantic City, NJ with headliners Metallica, Arctic Monkeys and Avenged Sevenfold. The 2-day festival was met with praise from both fans and critics alike: “Orion Music and More Fest was curated to be a tremendously fan-friendly experience,” said Rolling Stone. The Village Voice said “the way that the band left its stamp on all aspects of the festival (particular the big-tent aspect of the musical lineup) gave it a charge of intimacy and care that was much more present than at other multi-band, multi-day extravaganzas I’ve attended in recent years.”

The Metallica Met Club fan club presale starts February 26th at 10am (Eastern) and runs through February 28th at 10pm (Eastern). Met Club members get first dibs on buying festival tickets with a couple of options to choose from:

- A Super Special Price at $125 including all fees for a 2-Day Pass OR
- The MET CLUB ULTRA 2-DAY PASS, which includes Front of Stage Viewing for Metallica’s set, Exclusive Ultra Lounge Access & More for $225 including all fees!

Orion Music + More E-list members will get a chance to purchase $150 2-Day Passes before they go on-sale to the public. This presale starts February 27 at 10am (Eastern) and runs through February 28th at 10pm (Eastern).

Tickets will go on-sale to the public on March 1 at 10am (Eastern) for $150 for a 2-Day Pass including all fees. Visit http://www.orionmusicandmore.com to buy tickets.

Stay tuned for additional Orion Music + More announcements.

With their utmost experience and mastery of the craft, Conspirator pushed into 2013 with more raw power and drive than ever, starting with the release of their new EP Unleashed followed by a 28 city U.S. tour this winter.

Packed with bass heavy, yet melody driven anthems, this forward thinking band continues to refine their abilities as both onstage and studio driven electronic musicians. As the keyboardist and bass player from The Disco Biscuits, Aron Magner and Marc Brownstein , couple the form and flow of their organic roots with the heaviness that defines the American bass-music scene today. The quartet has risen to unparalleled heights, with the inclusion of guitarist Chris Michetti and Pendulum tour drummer KJ Sawka.

Unleashed is a crystal clear demonstration of Conspirator’s heavy, electronically produced core coupled with a skillful and melodic homage to live instrumentation. Electronic rock sensibilities are gracefully smashed into jaw dropping, dance-floor shaking dubstep rhythms to create an effortless fusion of all things deep. This high-impact collision creates an all encompassing, energetic spectacle which will no doubt be used to shock their devoted crowds from coast to coast.

Following the release of Unleashed, Conspirator embarked on a 28 stop tour to deliver their newest production to fans throughout the Southeast, Midwest, West Coast and Colorado. The preliminary part of the tour features electronic pioneers, Break Science, and will carry on until February 24th in Indianapolis. From there Conspirator will head out to the West Coast on their own, starting in Santa Monica at Central on 3/13 and working their way to Colorado, concluding the tour on 3/23 at the Ogden Theatre in Denver.

The Brooklyn based, Pretty Lights Music endorsed, Break Science has made a truly exceptional co-headliner alongside Conspirator for the beginning of the tour. Fueled by the collaboration and ingenuity behind Derek Vincent Smith’s label, this original duo made an eruptive splash in 2012. Their fall tour with Michael Menert casted them and their Twilight Frequency EP into the limelight as they spread their conception of music with open-minded fans across the nation. By incorporating facets of arrangement from all corners of the electronic spectrum, this incomparable duo insists that the meaning and transformation is all in the layers.
