Ask anyone who attended this year’s Rock on the Range festival about their favorite act away from the main stage, and a resounding consensus would place Airbourne at the top of the list. Their explosive Sunday afternoon set on the Kicker stage blew us away. With nearly choreographed headbanging, perfectly timed theatrics, and wild vocals reminiscent of the great 80’s rockers, Airborne stole the show and set the bar for side stage acts at any music festival. With only 30 minutes to prove themselves, they managed to create as much buzz as any main stage performer by playing hits like “Too Much Too Young Too Fast” and “Runnin’ Wild.”

The band hails from Australia, and has easily identifiable musical influences such as AC/DC and Motorhead. Brothers Joel and Ryan O’Keeffe formed the band in 2003 with guitarist David Roads and bassist Justin Street.  Their Ready to Rock EP (2004) lead to a record deal with Capitol Records, and their follow up Runnin’ Wild (2007) cemented their status and even featured a playable Guitar Hero track (“Too Much Too Young Too Fast”).  Though dropped from their record deal, they were picked up by Roadrunner Records and are on tour this summer promoting the release of their latest album No Guts No Glory which debuted in the US on April 20th.
