Serena Ryder - Musicpix Video Interview/Performance - What I Wanna Know |
Musicpix had the opportunity to visit with Serena Ryder during her sound check prior to her solo acoustic performance at the Vogue Theater in Indianapolis, Indiana. Touring in advance of her first major label release in the U.S. on September 15, 2009 entitled “is it o.k.” (which has already been certified Gold in Canada), Serena’s performance was the perfect set up for Jakob Dylan’s band The Wallflowers. Serena Ryder is an incredible talent. Her three octave vocal range and soulful emotive phrasing has her poised to enjoy a very long and fruitful musical career. SEE(and hear) THE MUSIC at Musicpix’ exclusive interview/performance of “What I Wanna Know.”

Serena started off her July 28th set with only her voice echoing “Melancholy Blues”…no guitar, no band, no nothing and we were wowed. She rolled into “Dark as the Black” and then introduced her next tune “Sweeping the Ashes” as a song she wrote on a bus while she was waiting on a friend to return from dinner. “Brand New Love” followed after Serena decided to take her boots off and express pure, raw emotion. “My next song is about being a little angry…not Alanis angry…just a little pissed off” said Ryder as she launched into our favorite song of the set “A Little Bit of Red.” The audience then got to experience “What I Wanna Know” which was performed prior to the show exclusively for Musicpix during sound check. She polished us off with a stomping, clapping rendition of “SING,” a song that was selected by students across North America to support music education.

Don’t miss Serena’s show…her solo performance was pretty incredible so we can only imagine what her show will be like supported by her full band.
