BLUE OCTOBER ANNOUNCES THE CANCELLATION OF THE PICK UP THE PHONE TOUR 2009 DUE TO LEAD SINGER’S HOSPITALIZATION

(New York, NY – October 22, 2009) The Pick Up The Phone Tour 2009 has been canceled due to the hospitalization of Justin Furstenfeld, lead singer of the tour’s headlining band Blue October. Furstenfeld, who was also the spokesperson for Pick Up The Phone Tour 2009, is being treated for suffering from an extreme mental anxiety attack. His doctors have ordered that the tour—which was committed to reducing the stigma associated with mental health, depression, and suicide—be canceled to allow for his recovery.

PICK UP THE PHONE TOUR 2009: HEADLINED BY BLUE OCTOBER STAND-UP FOR SUICIDE PREVENTION & AWARENESS

The reality of depression and suicide has inspired artists to take part in the PICK UP THE PHONE TOUR, a music tour committed to reducing the stigma associated with mental health as well as making the access to help and hope for all safe and without fear. Houston-based art rockers Blue October will headline the inaugural PICK UP THE PHONE TOUR--where impassioned artists join together to raise awareness and funds for depression and suicide prevention--and Atlanta-based hip-hop artist and producer B.o.B will open on the trek. The PICK UP THE PHONE TOUR marks the first-ever tour solely benefitting suicide prevention in history. The month-long trek will launch Thursday, October 22nd at the Music Farm in Charleston, SC and wrap up with a two-night stand at Stubbs in Austin, TX November 20 and 21. Lollapalooza 2007 - Chicago Gives A Whole Lolla Love - Live Photos

“A Whole Lolla Love” was felt by over 150,000 music fans in the span of three days, across nine stages, performed by over 130 premiere and internationally recognized artists as this world-class music festival achieved off-the-chart marks in every category of music that exists.

From the creator of Lollapalooza-Perry Farrell’s new band Satellite Party to The Polyphonic Spree, from Patti Smith to Amy Winehouse, from Daft Punk to Pearl Jam, from Juliette and the Licks to Rodrigo y Gabriela, to Blue October to !!! (Pronounced chk, chk, chk)  And this is the short list of the talented and diverse artists on the ’07 Lolla roster who united for a concert experience of a lifetime!

Grant Park is known as ‘Chicago’s Front Yard’ and equals 319 acres so we can comfortably (or uncomfortably) tell you that Musicpix traversed from stage to stage to bring you the best-of and as much of Lolla as humanly possible.
